Pastor Apollo Quiboloy, founder of the Davao-based Kingdom of Jesus Christ, should come out of hiding and answer abuse allegations before the Senate, a lawmaker said Thursday.

Quiboloy, who calls himself the Appointed Son of God, is at the center of 2 congressional investigations, with the Senate focusing on his alleged sexual abuses against Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) members and the House of Representatives zeroing in on the alleged franchise violations of Sonshine Media Network International — the media company associated with him but that company reps say he does not own.

Quiboloy is also wanted by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) for sex trafficking and other charges.

Speaking to TeleRadyo Serbisyo, Sen. Sherwin Gatchalian said Quiboloy should respect the subpoena issued by the Senate after the pastor snubbed previous invitations.

"Importante na respetuhin ang proseso...Sa mga kaso in the past, pag nagtatago ka, guilty ka kaagad. Flight means guilt."

"Ang importante, hindi lang kay Pastor Quiboloy, ang importante ay pumunta at maipaliwanag nila kung ano 'yung kanilang side at ma-defend ang kanilang sarili sa mga akusasyon," he added.

Without presenting any proof, Quiboloy earlier said he had gone into hiding amid an alleged plot by the CIA, FBI, US Embassy, and State Department to "eliminate him."

He accused President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., whom he had endorsed in the 2022 elections, of "surrendering" him to the United States.

Quiboloy also rejected allegations that he raped female assistants or "pastorals" in the KOJC, saying the women only wanted to enrich themselves and were fighting over him.

"Nag-aagawan sila. Mahirap man sabihin, pinag-aagawan nila ako dahil nanawag sa mga magulang; 'Yayaman na tayo, Ma, pag nangyari ito.' Sabi ko hindi mangyayari 'yan dahil dedicated ako."

"Napahiya, nabayaran, ngayon binabaliktad lahat ng storya," he said of his accusers.

In a statement, the US Embassy said that for more than a decade, Quiboloy engaged in "serious human rights abuse, including a pattern of systemic and pervasive rape of girls as young as 11 years old, and is currently on the FBI's Most Wanted List."
