MANILA — The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has announced the approval of job orders for household workers in Saudi Arabia who would not be required to live with their employers.

“Ito yung isang issuance na inanunsyo natin kahapon, yung pagkakaroon ng posisyon of residential support worker and cleaner sa Saudi Arabia. Dito sa posisyon na ito, hindi na kailangan tumira sa bahay ng employer yung ating domestic workers, pwede silang live out,” DMW Secretary Hans Leo Cacdac said Friday.

“Doon sila ngayon sa kanilang respective agencies or dormitoryo nila, tapos sila ay dadalhin na lang sa bahay na kailangan nilang linisin o ayusin o alagaan,” he told TeleRadyo Serbisyo.

Residential support workers will hold skilled visa instead of not domestic worker visa and their employers will directly be the mega recruitment companies (MRC), DWM said in a Facebook post.

"Primarily, the residential support workers will be responsible in the level of cleanliness in residential areas. Hindi mag-aalaga ng bata o employer," DMW Undersecretary for Foreign Employment and Welfare Felicitas Bay said.

Residential support workers will receive a monthly salary of 1,500 Riyals on top of 500 Riyals in food allowance and overtime pay if they work over eight hours, the DMW said.

It said their MRC employer would provide their accommodation and transportation to and from the workplace and other benefits such as health insurance.
