DAVAO CITY — Former President Rodrigo Duterte said that he does not need to attend the hearing called by the House of Representative's quad committee into alleged extrajudicial killings in the war on illegal drugs during his administration because he has already answered similar questions at the Senate.

The joint committees have invited Duterte to attend the inquiry "to provide valuable insights and shed light on the issues under discussion particularly on extrajudicial killings”.

Duterte previously said he would attend but begged off saying he was feeling under the weather but would be available after November 1.

In a media interview during his visit to the Roman Catholic Cemetery in Davao City last November 1, Duterte said the House quad comm inquiry might be repetitive compared to the Senate hearing he attended the previous week.

"Hindi naman ako nagpapasuplado, pero yung testimony ko sa Senate, natanong naman ng lahat. That will be the meat, the substance ng testimony ko. Kung paulit-ulit lang nila, okay lang man mag-appear ako. Tutal pareho rin ang sagot ko. Mag-debate lang kami ng mag-debate, yun din ang sagot ko," he said.

(I'm not trying to be rude but the same questions were already asked in my Senate testimony. That will be the meat, the substance of my testimony. It's okay for me to appear but we will just debate and my answers will be the same)

Duterte advised the lawmakers to simply rewatch the videos of the Senate hearing if they want to hear his responses regarding the alleged extrajudicial killings in relation to the war on drugs.

The former president also echoed Sen. JV Ejercito's remarks that the Senate hearings on the drug war can now end following his appearance at the upper house.

Duterte added that if he is invited to appear again, he would like to request airfare from Davao City to Metro Manila.

DUTERTE BLASTS TRILLANES

Duterte also slammed former Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV after saying that the information gathered during the former president's appearance before the Senate was sent to the International Criminal Court.

"The pertinent Quad Comm transcripts were transmitted early on and all were duly received. Lahat ng ito ay magagamit sa (All of that can be used in a) trial later on," Trillanes posted on X last October 30.

"Alam mo kung maniwala kayo kay Trillanes na bakla na yan. Walang ginawa kundi magdaldal. Di ko nga sinasagot eh. Kaya hindi ko sasagutin yang buang na yan," Duterte said.

(Why would you believe that Trillanes? He does nothing but talk. I don't even respond to him. So I will not respond to that crazy man)

"Alam mo kung ako ang presidente noong panahon na 'yon, patay na 'yan. Kung ako nag-presidente at nag-mutiny mutiny ka diyan, matagal nang kasabay yan dito sa cemetery," he added, referring to mutinies against the Arroyo administration that Trillanes and other members of the Magdalo group have been granted amnesty over.

(You know, if I were president when he initiated the mutinies, he would have been long dead)

Trillanes has yet to respond to Duterte's statements.
