MANILA— Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) founder Apollo Quiboloy intends to file a petition for bail in response to the charges against him, his lawyer said.

Quiboloy’s legal counsel, Israelito Torreon, said on Friday that his wish this Christmas is to file a motion to prove that the evidence of guilt against his client is not strong.

“I hope that we will soon file a petition for bail and that the bail will be granted so that he can obtain temporary liberty,” Torreon said.

“If the evidence of guilt is not strong, then the accused has the right to post bail,” he added.

The pre-trial for Quiboloy’s child and sexual abuse case resumed on Friday afternoon at Quezon City Regional Trial Court Branch 106, where the matters taken up during the preliminary conference were finalized.

The number of exhibits and list of witnesses that they will present were also discussed.

“The pre-trial order will soon be issued and the next setting will be trial already,” he said.

The next hearings are scheduled for January next year.
