MANILA (UPDATED) -- The Commission on Elections (COMELEC) has released the list of senatorial aspirants declared by the commission as nuisance candidates for the 2025 national and local elections.

Documents from the Office of the Clerk of the Commission showed a total of 117 aspirants was declared nuisance by the Commission.

Among those declared nuisance include a certain Francis Leo Antonio Marcos, and Daniel Ronquillo Magtira.

In a text message to ABS-CBN News, Comelec chairman George Erwin Garcia said the list is just on the division level of the commission and anybody from the said list can still file motion for reconsideration (MR).

“Ang desisyon ng Comelec Division ay hindi pinal maliban na lang kung hindi magfile ng Motion for Reconsideration sa tamang panahon. Ganyan po nmin pinapatunayan ang aming sinasabi na ire-resolba namin ang mga nuisance case bago pa man mag imprenta ng balota,” Garcia said.

Meanwhile, Comelec spokesperson Atty. John Rex Laudiangco explained that if the Supreme Court (SC) will not issue a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) after the appeal of the petitioners, the decision of the Commission will be made immediately executory.

"If Division level decision po, yes, pwede pa po mag MR sa en banc. Pero may mga resolved MRs na din po so sila po, sa Supreme Cpurt na, Petition for Review on Certiorari, Rule 64 in relation to Rule 65 of the Rules of Court. They have 5 days upon appeal to secure a TRO. If no TRO is issued by the SC po within 5 days from the perfection of the appeal, COMELEC's decision will be made immediately executory po though not yet final as the SC has taken cognizance and will rule on it po," said Laudiangco.

As of November 20, 2024, fourteen senatorial hopefuls have filed their MRs including Francis Leo Antonio Marcos, Felipe Fernandez Montealto Jr., Orlando Caranto De Guzman, Jaime Gaspacho Balmas, Pedro Gonzales Ordiales, John Rafael Campang Escobar, Roberto Sontosidad Sembrano, Romulo Tindoc San Ramon, Fernando Fabian Diaz, Luther Gascon Meniano, Romeo Castro Macaraeg, Subair Guinthum Mustapha, Berteni Cataluña Causing, and Alexander Cura Encarnacion.
