<div><span id="isPasted" style="caret-color:rgb(0, 0, 0);color:rgb(0, 0, 0)"></span><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap"></span></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/wCvK3xz1h3Y?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">MANILA — Despite the improving weather conditions in Metro Manila, some residents opted to spend the night in evacuation centers in Quezon City on Sunday due to typhoon Pepito. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">Around 359 families or 1,100 individuals from Barangay Del Monte fled to evacuation centers, the highest number of evacuees in the city, according to the latest data from the Quezon City Social Service Department.</span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">The evacuees stayed at San Francisco Elementary School and Dalupan Elementary School. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">Among the evacuees was Maria Elena, a resident of the barangay for almost 58 years. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">Elena said that went to the evacuation center on Saturday with 11 of her family members. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">“Umabot po sa second floor namin, yung last na [bagyo] umaabot na second floor [ang baha]. Kaya lumikas na kami ngayon ng mas maaga. Wala naman pong magagawa, utos na po ng barangay,” she said. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">Wilma Rosas, whose house was severely damaged by typhoons Carina and Kristine, came prepared and evacuated early with her family even before Pepito made landfall. </span></div><div dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap"><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/11/17/heavy-rains-still-possible-as-pepito-moves-away-from-ph-526">Heavy rains still possible as Pepito moves away from Luzon</a></span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">She said that while she knew it was dangerous to live near the river, they could not afford to move to a safer area because of higher rental costs. </span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">“Sa amin po kasi tabing ilog, ngayon po kapag bumagsak ang ulan, mahina o hindi, sa amin ang bagsak ng tubig. Kaya kami kapag umulan ng dalawang oras ganun, hanggang dito na [bewang] ang tubig sa amin. Noong Carina nga po hanggang third floor inabot kami,” she said.</span></div><div><span style="vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap">“Nakakapagod po talaga, kaya lang, wala kami choice, wala kami mapaglipatan.
