The Philippines has been hit by three typhoons within the last two weeks and a fourth one is approaching, forecast to make landfall late on Saturday (November 16).

Pepito is also the sixth tropical cyclone to enter the typhoon-battered Philippines in a month. Earlier in October, Tropical Storm Kristine [international name: Trami] and Super Typhoon Leon [international name: Kong-rey] brought heavy flooding, triggered landslides and killed 162 people.

Ahead of Pepito, the Philippines evacuated tens of thousands of people from their homes and canceled dozens of flights on Saturday. Packing winds of 185 kph (115 mph), the storm was heading for the eastern part of the main island of Luzon.
