MANILA — The Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) has announced the cancellation of 16 bus trips going to Bicol Region, Visayas, and Davao, some as early as Nov. 14, due to typhoon Pepito.

PITX corporate communications officer Kolyn Calbasa told ABS-CBN News, the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) issued an advisory suspending all land trips to Visayas Region that need to pass through Matnog Port in Sorsogon.

“As of now yung mga tatawid po ng Matnog Port na mga biyahe natin ay kanselado, dahil inaasahan nga po na malakas po yung bagyong pepito,” Calbasa said.

“This is to inform the public that the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB), effective today, 14, November 2024, is temporarily suspending all land travel by buses and trucks for Visayas and Mindanao via Matnog Port and other areas in the Bicol region that may be affected by Tropical Cyclone Pepito,"  the LTFRB said in a statement.

Meanwhile, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) said, all of its assets and personnel are already on standby for any possible rescue and clearing operations.

On Friday, Atty. Crisanto Saruca, officer-in-charge of MMDA’s Public Safety Division said, they met with DILG and other stakeholders to prepare for the effects of the typhoon.

MMDA said it coordinated with the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) to remind billboard operators to temporarily roll down their tarpaulins and advertisements in the metropolis.

In case of emergency, according to Saruca the public may reach MMDA through its hotline number 136.
