Arlene Brosas whether or not he was willing to cooperate with the ICC investigation, he said, &quot;I am asking the ICC to hurry up and if possible, they can come here and start the investigation tomorrow.&quot;</p><p>Duterte, 79, claimed that the &quot;issue has been left hanging for so many years… Baka mamatay na ako, hindi na nila ako ma-imbestiga.&quot;</p><p>(I might die before they investigate me)</p><p>&quot;So, I am asking the ICC, through you, na magpunta na sila dito, bukas. Umpisahan na nila ang investigation (They should come here at once, tomorrow. They should start their investigation). If I am found guilty I will go to prison and rot there for all time,&quot; he added.</p><div><strong>&#x27;ICC DOES NOT SCARE ME&#x27;</strong></div><p dir="ltr"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap"></span>Asked to clarify if this meant he would cooperate with the tribunal, Duterte said, “The ICC does not scare me a bit. They can come here anytime… Wala naman tayong taguan. Ang sinabi ko, ang ginawa ko, I did it for my country and for the young people, no excuses, no apology. I got to hell, so be it.”</p><p dir="ltr">“Bigyan mo ako ng pera, ako na pumunta ng ICC doon, ako na mismo magpaimbestiga doon,” he said.</p><p dir="ltr">In a statement on Wednesday, the Palace said that if Duterte &quot;desires to surrender himself to the jurisdiction of the ICC, the government will neither object to it nor move to block the fulfillment of his desire.&quot;</p><p dir="ltr">In the same statement, Executive Secretary Lucas Bersamin said the Philippines would be bound to cooperate if Interpol issues a Red Notice for Duterte.</p><p>A Red Notice is a request &quot;to locate and provisionally arrest a person pending extradition, surrender, or similar legal action.&quot;</p><div dir="ltr"><span style="color:#000000;background-color:transparent;text-decoration:none;vertical-align:baseline;white-space:pre-wrap"></span></div><div dir="ltr" style="line-height:1.38;margin-top:0pt;margin-bottom:0pt"><br/></div><div dir="ltr"><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/lyK4QAu1hzI?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span>The International Criminal Court in The Hague is currently investigating Duterte&#x27;s war on drugs and the alleged Davao Death Squad for possible crimes against humanity.</div><p dir="ltr">The government has taken the position that it will not cooperate with the ICC, which the Philippines left in 2019 because of its preliminary inquiry into the drug war.</p><p>But the Marcos Jr. administration also said that it would not prevent the ICC from getting statements and information and setting interviews with potential resource persons.</p><p>The ICC may release a warrant of <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/10/30/icc-may-issue-arrest-warrant-against-duterte-before-end-of-2024-ex-solon-1715" style="box-sizing:border-box;color:rgb(93, 155, 192);text-decoration:none">arrest for Duterte before the end of the year</a>, which could signal the beginning of trial.</p><div><strong>WATCH THE HOUSE QUAD COMM HEARING</strong></div><div><span class="fr-video fr-deletable fr-fvc fr-dvb fr-draggable" contenteditable="false" draggable="true"><iframe width="640" height="360" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/ZloDiScq5CY?&amp;wmode=opaque&amp;rel=0" frameBorder="0" allowfullscreen="" class="fr-draggable"></iframe></span><br/></div>
