MANILA – House Deputy Speaker and CIBAC (Citizens Battle Against Corruption) Party-list first nominee Bro. Eddie Villanueva has vowed to push for a law imposing death penalty on government officials proven to have stolen more than P100 million.

CIBAC Party-list filed its certificate of nomination and acceptance for re-election on Tuesday at the Manila Hotel Tent City.

Before filing their CON-CAN, Villanueva said a heavier penalty is needed to weed out corrupt officials and for other heinous crimes.

Biblical po yan I can prove it.

Villanueva is the founder of Jesus Is Lord Church Worldwide.

He also said he will push for the "Freedom to Information" bill which he say will allow the public to see all the records of government officials.

Villanueva said he will continue to oppose the divorce bill and the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity, and Expression (SOGIE) Equality Bill.

Marami akong kaibigan na gay people, sinasabi nila sa akin against same-sex marriage sila," he said.

Kaya, yung divorce, meron namang legal separation, meron namang nullification of marriage, meron namang annulment of marriage," Villanueva explained.

Meantime, the party-list hopeful said he backs the measure banning political dynasties among elected officials but with certain conditions.

Yun ang ibig sabihin ng political dynasty," he said.

"Ngayon, isa kang pamilya. Meron kang limang anak. Lahat ang anak mo, nagmamahal sa Diyos. Nagmamahal sa bayan. Kaya isa lang ang pwedeng maglingkod. Yung iba, bahala na kayo. Unfair naman yun," Villanueva added.

His son, Joel Villanueva, is an incumbent senator who previously represented CIBAC Party-list in the House of Representatives.

Kaya ang taong bayan ang dapat gumising," he said.

The evangelist said "genuine democracy" must rule in the country.
