Jonathan Cellona, ABS-CBN News</span></span></span></div><p>MANILA — The Commission on Elections (Comelec) officially closed on Tuesday the period of filing of certificate of candidacy (COC) for those seeking to join the May 2025 elections.</p><div><a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/2024/9/30/philippines-enters-new-election-season-as-candidacy-filing-for-2025-kicks-off-443">• Philippines enters new election season as candidacy filing for 2025 kicks off</a></div><p>The COC and certificates of acceptance of nomination (CON-CAN) filing kicked off on Oct. 1 and lasted until 5 p.m. of Oct. 8.</p><p>According to data provided by Comelec on Tuesday evening, they received 184 COCs for senator and 190 CON-CANs during the 8-day filing period.
