MANILA — Former Sen. Manny Pacquiao on Monday filed his certificate of candidacy for a possible return to the Senate in 2025 as he vowed to continue his "advocacy" against corruption in government.

"[Kumandidato ako para] ipagpatuloy ang aking adbokasiya upang labanan ang korapsyon... Sa aking panunungkulan sa Senado noong nakaraan ay meron po tayong inimbistagahan ng korapsuon sa ahensya ng gobyerno," said Pacquiao, who ran for president in 2022 but lost to Ferdinand Marcos, Jr.

"Ako'y naniniwala na kaya naghirap ang ating bansa, nagdusa ang sambayanang Pilipino, maraming mga walang trabaho, bagsak ang ekonomiya natin [ay] dahil sa korapsyon. Ang korapsyon talaga ang kanser ng bansa," he said.

Pacquiao also called out families who supposedly made politics their "business" but admitted that there was no law prohibiting dynasties after a reporter pointed out criticism against his son's local bid in General Santos City.
