Villar will face other congressional bets such as Las Piñas City Councilor Mark Anthony Santos, professor Luisito Redoble, and 28-year-old Senior High School teacher Barry Tayam - and all of them said they aim to put an end to political dynasties, where family members hold multiple positions in government simultaneously.

"Well, una sa lahat we were invited by the Teodoros to be active in District 1 kasi nga sabi nila iiwanan ni Marcy at ni Maan ang district 1, si Mayor Marcy will run for congressman in district 2 of Marikina while Congw. Maan will run for Mayor... Tapos nung Saturday nagfile na po si Mayor Marcy as for congressman of district 1 so kung medyo nalilito kayo, kami rin po ay nalito," Pimentel said.

"We sort of decided a year and a half ago noong napansin naming imbis na pabayaan na lang kami sa aming distrito talagang gusto kaming burahin ng mayor doon sa Marikina. So imbis na piliin niyang magkasundo kami at pagsamahan ng kaunlaran ng aming siyudad na naghihirap sa mga panahon na ito, pinili niyang kunin ang hakbang habang siya ay nasa pwesto, na burahin kami. Lumipat siya sa aming distrito na hindi naman siya taga sa amin at nakipag-alyansa sa iba, sa usapin talaga para mawala na ang mga Quimbo sa Marikina," Quimbo told reporters.

"Hindi ganoon ang eleksyon, walang binubura na kandidato. That's a democratic process, ito'y para sa tao at kung ano iyong kailangan ng tao. Hahayaan nating mamili ang tao ng pinakamagaling na maglilingkod sa kanila. Hindi ito tungkol sa pagbubura ng isang kandidato o mga kandidato sa isang lugar," he explained.
