MANILA — Movie icon Nora Aunor is seeking a seat at the House of Representatives under the party-list People's Champ Guardians.

Born Nora Cabaltera Villamayor, Aunor, dubbed as the country's Superstar, started her career in showbiz after joining "Tawag ng Tanghalan" in the '60s.

The actress is the second nominee of the newly-formed party-list.

Asked why she was running, the actress said she wanted to help Filipinos, particularly her colleagues in the entertainment industry.

"Sa kagustuhan kong makatulong sa ating taumbayuan... kaya po ako naglakas loob," she said.

“Para lang po makatulong, dahil galing po ako sa pagiging mahirap,” Aunor added.

The party-list filed its certificate of nomination on Friday but only appeared before the media on Monday.

In 2021, Aunor also attempted to run as nominee of NORAA (National Organization for Responsive Advocacies for the Arts) party-list.
