MANILA — Former Vice President Leni Robredo confirmed Friday that she would run for Naga mayor in the 2025 elections.

She also introduced her slate for the upcoming midterm elections, which she said was part of an extensive consultation process.

Robredo: No politics in surprise visit of VP Duterte

Long-time ally and outgoing Camarines Sur Third District Rep. Gabriel Bordado will be Robredo's running-mate for vice mayor. 

Her slate for the city council includes the following.  

• Incumbent Councilor Gayle Abonal-Gomez
• Incumbent Councilor Jess Albeus
• Outgoing City Administrator Elmer Baldemoro
• Former City Health Officer Dr. Butch Borja
• Incumbent Councilor Omar Buenafe
• Outgoing City Budget Officer Frank Mendoza
• Incumbent Councilor Jose Perez
• Former Councilor Miles Raquid-Arroyo
• Incumbent Councilor Oying Rosales
• Atty. Ariez Macaraig

Robredo said they had urged "Naga City residents, sectors, and organizations to take part in an extensive consultation process, where they were invited to field nominees and screen aspirants."

She said this tradition was started by her late husband, long-time Naga City Mayor Jesse Robredo. She said all aspiring candidates were vetted based on a criteria that included integrity, character, experience, and contribution to people empowerment.

Some 2,000 Nagueños participated in the process.

Robredo and Team Naga will file their certificates of candidacy on Saturday.
