Red rainfall warning up in NCR, nearby provinces amid storm Kristine

The state weather bureau issued a red alert rainfall warning in Metro Manila and five provinces in CALABARZON as severe tropical storm Kristine moved slowly over the waters of La Union on Thursday night.

PAGASA said in its 8 p.m. bulletin that the National Capital Region, Batangas, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal and Quezon, particularly Tiaong, San Antonio, Candelaria, Dolores, Sariaya, Tayabas, Lucban and Lucena are under the red rainfall warning.

A red rainfall warning means that more than 30 millimeters (mm) of rain will fall in the next two hours. This can cause serious flooding in prone areas.

Meanwhile, areas under orange rainfall warning are: Zambales, Bataan and areas of Quezon, particularly Infanta, Real, Atimonan, Padre Burgos, Pagbilao, Mauban, Sampaloc, Polillo, Burdeos, Panukulan, Patnanungan, Jomalig, General Nakar, Perez and Alabat.

Under yellow warning level are Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija and areas in Quezon including Calauag, Tagkawayan, Guinayangan, Pitogo, Unisan, Agdangan, Plaridel, Gumaca, Lopez, Macalelon, General Luna, Catanauan, Mulanay, Buenavista, San Andres, San Francisco and San Narciso

Flooding is expected in prone areas, said PAGASA.

Kristine was last spotted at 7 p.m. over the waters of Bacnotan, La Union.

It is moving westward with maximum winds of 95 km/hr near the center and gustiness of up to 145 km/hr.
