Rains brought by severe tropical storm Kristine eased in parts of Metro Manila Friday, causing floods to go down.

In Manila, parts of España Boulevard and Taft Avenue were flooded early Friday morning, but the roads were still passable. Some vehicles, however, slowed down for fear water might reach inside the car.

Pedestrians were forced to wade through the flood, with some taking off their shoes and walking barefoot in the water.

In Parañaque, dozens were stranded at a mall along Dr. Arcadio Santos Avenue even until 3am.

Many could not go home due to limited transport options because of flooding in nearby streets. Some cars also broke down due to floods, which also caused traffic in the area.

Members of the Philippine Air Force rescued the stranded individuals. They brought rescue boats for those needing assistance, while several trucks were offered to those who need a ride to a much safer place.

Several people immediately jumped into the military trucks so they could go home. Many personnel also cleaned the drainage system as trash was already blocking the flow of water.

Floods have subsided in most parts of Metro Manila by 6 am due to lesser rains early in the morning. Some parts of Taft were still flooded. However, the water level has dropped, and the areas are passable so far.
