MANILA - Typhoon Nina has maintained its course and is now over the West Philippine Sea, state weather bureau PAGASA said Monday night.

In its 11 p.m. advisory, PAGASA said tropical cyclone warning signal number 1 was raised in Lubang Island, Bataan and southern Zambales. Storm warning signals elsewhere haave been lifted.

PAGASA said Nina was packing a maximum sustained winds of 120 kilometers per hour (kph) and gusts of 150 kph.

At 10 p.m. on Monday, the typhoon was 240 kilometers west-southwest of Iba, Zambales. It was moving west-northwest at 20 kph and is expected to exit the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) late evening on Tuesday.

PAGASA warned that moderate to heavy rains are expected within the 300-kilometer diameter of the typhoon. Sea travel remains risky in the seaboards of northern Luzon.
