'Tugon ng gobyerno sa COVID-19 pandemic bumubuti'

Naniniwala ang isang dating adviser ng gobyerno na bumuti na ang tugon ng pamahalaan sa COVID-19 pandemic.

Kaya hindi umano nakapagtataka na tumaas ang posisyon ng Pilipinas sa COVID-19 Recovery Index ng Nikkei Asia.

"We're doing well in terms of positivity rate, reduction of new cases and then we’re improving in the vaccine rollout because of the increased efforts of the government," ani Dr. Tony Leachon, dating adviser ng National Task Force Against COVID-19.

"[The] most important factor here is during the analysis of Nikkei Asia, they caught us during the time we were improving our vaccination rollout," aniya.

Tumaas nang 46 spots ang puwesto ng Pilipinas sa Nikkei ranking.

Mula 103 noong Oktubre, nasa 57 na ang Pilipinas sa listahan na kinabibilangan ng 122 bansa.

Sa ranking, nabanggit din na ang short-term case fatality rate ng bansa ay nasa 9 porsiyento.

Pero ipinaliwanag ng Department of Health na ang numero ay tiningnan lang ang bilang ng mga namatay mula Nobyembre 18 hanggang 27.

Sa 2,096 na nai-report na pumanaw noong panahong iyon, 16 porsiyento lang ang namatay noong Nobyembre habang ang nalalabing 80 porsiyento ay namatay noong Agosto hanggang Oktubre.

Ayon kay Leachon, mahalaga ring bantayan ngyaon ang pagbabakuna sa mas maraming Pilipino, na puwedeng panangga laban sa malalang COVID-19.

Para kay Leachon, malabong makamit ang 70 hanggang 90 porsiyentong vaccination coverage ngayong taon.

"We may actually achieve the 70 to 90 percent in the first quarter of 2022. But I would be happy if we reach around 50 percent for the end of December," ani Leachon.

Bagaman hindi pa kumpleto ang datos sa Omicron variant, kabilang ang epekto nito sa bakuna, naniniwala si Leachon na malaki pa rinang tulong ng pagpapaturok nito.

"I think if ever we will have the Omicron variant, with higher vaccination rate and lower positivity rate, I think we can actually roll with the punches and be more resilient in accepting that particular challenge," aniya.

Nasa 38.6 milyong Pilipino na ang fully vaccinated laban sa COVID-19. Target ng pamahalaan na mabakunahan hanggang 54 milyon bago matapos ang taon.
