Locals have difficulty crossing the river after the Tandayag bridge in Puerto Princesa was washed away by a flash flood.

PUERTO PRINCESA CITY - A flash flood brought about by continuous rains washed out the Tandayag bridge in Barangay Manalo in Puerto Princesa City on Sunday.

The bridge connects over 70 families, mostly indigenous people in Purok Cabaeran and Purok Dorokha to Puerto Princesa's main roads.

To ferry residents, a bamboo raft made by the barangay officials helps the residents cross the river and transfer their products.

The use of the bamboo raft relies greatly to the passengers strength, which makes it hard for children and women to cross.

Students need to wait for elders to help them cross the bridge through the bamboo raft.

According to Barangay Manalo Chairman Emily Eleazar, the problem has been communicated to the office of Puerto Princesa City Mayor Lucilo Bayron.

The barangay is also planning to create a barangay resolution to be submitted to the Mayor's office asking help for the immediate reconstruction of the bridge.
