MANILA- The House of Representatives Committee on Ethics and Privileges will meet Wednesday to discuss ACTS OFW party-list Rep. John Bertiz's viral security row with an airport personnel.

The meeting seeks “to decide on what appropriate action should be taken on the alleged NAIA Incident,” said committee chair, AGRI party-list Rep. Delphine Gan Lee.

Bertiz drew flak on social media after he was caught on video snatching the ID of an airport screener who questioned him about his refusal to remove his shoes, a security protocol, at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport.

He has apologized for his actions and explained that in some instances, his fragile nature, work stress and "monthly period" get the better of him.

Under House rules, the ethics committee can recommend punishment for members found to have violated the Code of Conduct for public officials, and for disorderly behavior.

Lee added the committee has discretion on whether or not it will call Bertiz.

The House may censure or reprimand an erring member with the concurrence of the majority of all its members.

It may suspend or expel an erring Member with the concurrence of two-thirds of all its members provided that a penalty of suspension shall not exceed 60 days.
