NEGROS ORIENTAL-- A man who claimed to be a contractual worker of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) was arrested by cops after they recovered unlicensed firearms and live ammunition from him.

Mario Sedon was arrested Wednesday after a search warrant was implemented by the Regional Public Safety Batallion 18 in Sitio Buak Buntod, Barangay Nagbinlod in Santa Catalina town.

According to Police Chief Inspector Jesus Barroca Mesahon Jr., Sedon said he was a DENR contractual worker but failed to present any identification card.

Sedon was uncooperative when questioned, but authorities suspect they are looking into the possibility of Sedon's involvement in a gun for hire group operating in the town.

Recovered from Sedon were firearms such as KG9, caliber .45, .22 revolver, and magazines. Close to 80 live ammunition were also seized.
