MANILA/CEBU - Chief Justice Maria Lourdes Sereno on Thursday said she was not the unnamed government official President Rodrigo Duterte slammed for taking extravagant trips abroad.

"I don't know who he is referring to. Definitely not me. I don't feel alluded to," Sereno said in a forum at the University of San Carlos in Cebu.

In a speech on Tuesday, Duterte criticized an unidentified government official for supposedly riding first class when travelling abroad and booking suites for accommodation.

While he mentioned no names, Duterte hinted that the official was not from the executive department.

Meanwhile, despite the impeachment raps filed against her, Sereno remains unfazed and maintains that she had not been extravagant in her expenses as the chief justice.

"I have lived a life of modesty. I have been prudent in the use of court expenses," she said in the same forum.

An impeachment complaint against Sereno has already been filed by Volunteers Against Crime and Corruption (VACC) in the House of Representatives for supposed culpable violation of the Constitution, betrayal of public trust, corruption, other high crimes, and betrayal of public trust.

The Supreme Court has granted VACC's request for documents to support their impeachment complaint, but no lawmaker has endorsed the complaint.

Lawyer Lorenzo Gadon is also planning to file another impeachment complaint against Sereno due to an alleged purchase by the Supreme Court of a luxury sport-utility vehicle (SUV) worth P5.1 million.

The Supreme Court has also granted Gadon's plea for copies of 20 documents relevant to an impeachment complaint he is set to file.
