The Iloilo International Airport seized more than 100 from passengers leaving the province bound for different destinations.

However, most of the umbrellas were destroyed by passengers out of frustration upon surrendering them to airport personnel.

Umbrellas are prohibited in carry-on baggage, but they can be placed in check-in luggage.

The umbrellas, which are now under the custody of a terminal supervisor, will undergo proper disposal.

Umbrellas and other confiscated items in the airport that are in good condition are usually given to the students in some public schools in Cabatuan, Iloilo during Christmas season or during the foundation day celebration of the airport.

Airport terminal supervisor Art Parreño reminded passengers to be updated regarding prohibited items for carry-on baggage, to avoid delays in their flight schedule.
