MANILA - The Supreme Court has issued a writ of habeas data in response to a petition filed by Leyte Rep. Vicente Veloso over his inclusion in government's list of alleged narco-politicians.

In filing a petition for writ of habeas data, Veloso sought to rectify, suppress or destroy database, information or files kept by respondents which allegedly erroneously lists him as a narco-politician.

In March, Veloso said the accusation against him was baseless and that his inclusion in the narco-list "unduly" injured his reputation.

Veloso, a former court judge and an ally of President Rodrigo Duterte, said he was included in the list due to politicking.

Impleaded in the case were Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea, PDEA Director Gen. Aaron Aquino, Philippine National Police chief Oscar Albayalde, Armed Forces chief Benjamin Madrigal Jr, National Intelligence Coordinating Agency Director Gen. Alex Monteguado, and Interior Secretary Eduardo Año.

The high court ordered respondents to file a verified return of the writ within 5 days and directed the Court of Appeals to hold a summary hearing.
