Former Davao-based broadcaster Girlie Balaba cast her vote in South City Central School in Cagayan de Oro (CDO) on Monday.

Balaba, whose candidacy was endorsed by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio last month, is running for councilor in the city's second district.

She is part of City Mayor Oscar Moreno's slate. They are running under the Partido Demokratiko Pilipino–Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban).

Balaba is said to be "close" to President Rodrigo Duterte. The president earlier raised Balaba's hand in a sign of endorsement.
