Their occupants were mostly island workers.</p><p>The demolition team started with boarding houses already abandoned by boarders. They did not touch structures with remaining occupants. </p><figure class="op-interactive"><div id="IVS_ABS_Body_Video_1_Container"> <ivs-player id="IVS_ABS_Body_Video_1" data-ivs-spid="3001339" data-ivs-key="e8c22c015ca9eafa76f1e3edfa03c603" data-ivs-vid="1434090" data-ivs-floating="1"></ivs-player> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/iframe-parent.js"></script> <script src="https://player.ivideosmart.com/ivsplayer/v4/dist/js/loader.js"></script> </div></figure><div class="iwantbar">Watch more in <a href="~//www.iwantv.com.ph/">iWantv</a> or <a href="~//tfc.tv/">TFC.tv</a></div><p>Lawyer Richard Fabila of the City Environment &amp; Natural Resources Office- Boracay said only permanent residents would be relocated, while transients were advised to look for other places to stay.</p><p>Fabila said the National Housing Authority was in charge of finding a relocation area. </p><p>Environment Secretary Roy Cimatu inspected the wetland area last week and noticed murky water and garbage in the area.</p><p>The government wants to rehabilitate the 9 wetland areas in Boracay, which was closed to tourists on April 26 for unprecedented cleanup. </p><p>The rehabilitation effort involves improvement of the island’s sewerage system and road networks, elimination of the accumulation of solid waste, removal of structures violating shore easement rules, and recovery of the island’s wetlands.</p><p>The island&#x27;s closure was expected to leave some 30,000 workers jobless and cause a P1.96-billion reduction in the country&#x27;s gross domestic product.</p><ul class="op-related-articles">	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/business/04/26/18/closing-time-in-boracay-as-6-month-shutdown-begins">&#x27;Closing Time&#x27; in Boracay as 6-month shutdown begins</a></li>	<li><a href="http://news.abs-cbn.com/news/05/10/18/duterte-creates-boracay-inter-agency-rehab-task-force">Duterte creates Boracay inter-agency rehab task force</a></li></ul>
