After a major glitch, Commission on Elections' (Comelec) precinct finder is now accessible to help voters find their precincts ahead of the midterm polls.

Earlier Friday, Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez explained that experts were fixing the precinct finder website, checking if there are “any issues [that] remained.”

Jimenez said one problem encountered by the team was having a default response of “deactivated” whenever there is a blank field in the query posted by the user.

He said the team already reported it to the Department of Information and Communications Technology and the agency decided to temporarily suspend the link being used by the public.

Registered voters may now check their precincts here:

Voters will have to send their full name, including their middle name, their birth date and the locality where they registered as voters. Female voters can send their full maiden name, as well as the surname of their husband.

Here are other options:

Option 1: Manual checking of voters’ list

Those who live near Comelec offices and schools to be used on election day can now go there and manually check the posted voters list.

Option 2: Call or e-mail Precinct Finder Hotline

Voters can also send their queries to the Precinct Finder Hotline (02) 526 7769 or the e-mail addresses voters_id@comelec.gov.ph and itd@comelec.gov.ph. However, some netizens claimed that they have not received replies via the e-mail addresses.

Option 3: Tweet Comelec

Comelec’s social service account @radyocomelec has also started accepting direct messages from netizens who want to verify their polling precinct.

It could be recalled that the Comelec website was breached by hackers in 2016 and personal information of at least 55 million voters were posted online. The precinct finder was disabled because it was one of the functionalities affected by the breach.
