There was no "clear or present danger" in Metro Manila, the region's police chief insisted Thursday, as travelers went on Lenten exodus.

National Capital Region Police Office chief, Director Oscar Albayalde said there was no threat of a terror attack in the metropolis for the remainder of the Holy Week season, even after government forces clashed with suspected members of terror group Abu Sayyaf in Inabanga, Bohol.

"Wala naman tayong nakukuhang [report of ] clear or present danger on any terror act. Lahat ng threat groups natin are all being monitored by our intelligence operatives coming from the AFP and PNP," Albayalde said, as he inspected bus terminals in Cubao, Quezon City.

He credited the Tuesday firefight in Inabanga, Bohol which killed 5 militants as a "preemption" of the terror group's threat.

Threat or no threat, more than 12,000 police personnel have already been deployed to secure airports, terminals, ports and "places of convergence" all over Metro Manila for the Holy Week.

ALL SET FOR GOOD FRIDAY

The NCR director added there was no need to jam mobile signals during the Good Friday procession of the image of the Black Nazarene in Quiapo, Manila.

Albayalde also visited the area of the Quiapo Church as part of his inspection tour.

"Wala tayong nakikitang threat doon at enough naman ang ating kapulisan na nandoon mamayang gabi hanggang bukas dahil magkaka-prusisyon," he said.

["We haven't seen any threat and our police forces assigned there are enough for the procession from tonight until tomorrow."]

Police will also be stationed throughout the procession route, with reinforcements of at least 50 men from the regional public safety battalion, he said.

Globe Telecom had scrapped its plan to jam cellular signals as a security precaution for the event.
