CAGAYAN DE ORO - Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Friday endorsed the candidacy of one of her father's close friends who is running for councilor in the city's second district.
Duterte-Carpio described Girlie Balaba, who is running under the PDP-Laban party, as a "good friend of the family."
Balaba, a former resident of Davao City, is running for councilor of Cagayan de Oro City.
The President's daughter was in Cagayan de Oro to endorse local candidates from Padayon Pilipino-Centrist Democratic Party coalition.

In a phone interview, Balaba said she was barred from attending the rally since she was running under the PDP-Laban. She met Duterte-Carpio in the holding room of the venue.
