We regret the error.)</em></div><p>MANILA — A fifth patient in Quezon City tested positive for the 2019 coronavirus disease, the mayor of Metro Manila&#x27;s most populous city said Thursday.</p><p>The city&#x27;s 5th COVID patient received his test results only on Thursday, said Mayor Joy Belmonte, who could not immediately say if the case was among <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/11/20/philippines-confirms-16-new-covid-19-cases-total-now-at-49">49 patients</a> in the Department of Health&#x27;s nationwide tally.</p><p>The male patient, 26, is a resident of Barangay BL Crame and has no recent travel abroad. A hospital initially diagnosed his disease as dengue, said the mayor. </p><p>His family will also be tested for COVID-19, Belmonte said. </p><p>&quot;Iyong nanay nagsasabing iyong mga ibang anak nagkakaroon na rin po ng kaunting ubo-ubo. Sana hindi connected,&quot; she told DZMM. </p><p>(His mother said her other children also have mild coughs. We hope it&#x27;s not connected.)</p><p>Quezon City, north of Metro Manila, has a population of 2.9 million people, according to the Philippine Statistics Authority.</p><p>Belmonte earlier said Quezon City&#x27;s 4 other patients included the following: </p><p>- a 27-year-old <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/11/20/mayor-belmonte-confirms-4th-covid-19-case-in-quezon-city">doctor</a> who contracted the virus while treating a patient with COVID-19 in a hospital outside Quezon City; </p><p>- a 57-year-old man who lives in Baler Street, did not travel abroad, and received visitors from China, the US, and Davao; </p><p>- a man in his 30s who lives in a condominium unit in Tomas Morato Avenue; and </p><p>- a resident of the Project 6 area. </p><p>The World Health Organization called the new coronavirus outbreak a <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/overseas/03/12/20/world-health-organization-describes-coronavirus-outbreak-as-pandemic">pandemic</a> on Wednesday, as cases across the globe rose to more than 124,000 with 4,500 deaths. <br/> <br/>President Rodrigo Duterte on Monday placed the country under a state of <a href="https://news.abs-cbn.com/news/03/09/20/duterte-declares-state-of-public-health-emergency-philippines-due-to-coronavirus">public health emergency</a> to arrest the pathogen&#x27;s spread. </p><div><strong>More details to follow. </strong></div>
