Her husband, a 72-year-old Filipino man, is also confined at Manila Doctors Hospital due to the virus.

The woman is the second COVID-19 death in the Philippines so far, but is the first Filipino fatality in the country.

The Philippines' first coronavirus-linked death was a 44-year-old Chinese man from Wuhan, China, where the disease's outbreak started.

As of Wednesday, the Philippines has 49 confirmed COVID-19 cases.
