BATAN, Aklan – A short mass was held in the residence of slain volunteer doctor Dreyfuss Perlas in Batan, Aklan, Saturday morning.

Officials from the Department of Health led by Assistant Secretary Eric Tayag joined Perlas' family and friends in remembering the doctor's passion and dedication to his patients in Sapad, Lanao del Norte.

An unidentified assailant shot Perlas in the back on March 1. He was in Lanao del Norte under the government's Doctors to the Barrios program since 2012.
