MANILA- (UPDATE) Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) Chairman Jose Jorge Corpuz has resigned from his post, Malacañang said Friday.

Corpuz also vacated his post as a member of the PCSO board of directors due to health reasons, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said.

Roque clarified that Corpuz was not the person President Rodrigo Duterte had wanted to fire.

"Mr. Corpuz, for the information of everyone, is not the person whom the President said he will fire for corruption," Roque said in a statement.

Corpuz's resignation case as PCSO officials traded corruption allegations.

In December, Sandra Cam, a former jueteng whistleblower,
publicly criticized PCSO general manager Alexander Balutan over an alleged lavish Christmas party.

Cam also criticized the PCSO’s expanded small town lottery (STL) operations, claiming operators under-declare their monthly income, causing government hundreds of millions in losses per month.

Balutan, however, had dismissed Cam's claims and instead accused her of using her post for political gains.

A resolution for a Senate investigation into alleged corruption within the agency was filed this month.
