EVERYTHING MUST GO: Two days before the inauguration of President-elect Rodrigo Duterte, illegal drug prices as well as demand for narcotics have reportedly gone down in Naga City.

A few grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with street value of P5,500 is now being sold for only P2,300.

"Base sa impormasyon na nakuha natin, pinapaubos na ang kanilang supply. Kung meron man wala nang bumibili, bagsak presyo," said Senior Inspector Ireneo Andalis Jr.

Meanwhile, five alleged drug pushers surrendered to Mayor John Bongat.

One of them was "Alias Bato". He said bus and van drivers and mall employees were their usual patrons.

For "Alias Dondi", the series of arrests and killings of drug pushers prompted his surrender.

The five suspects faced Bongat and promised to lead a drug-free life. They also promised to encourage more drug pushers to surrender.

"Meron na kaming napag-usapan ng Dangerous Drugs Board headed by Sec. Felipe Roxas. Meron commitment in principle na sila magpapatayo ng building, ang operation expenses will be for the account of the city government of Naga, pero ito ang magkukumpleto ng ating mga programa," the mayor said.

A reward system will be in place for those who could provide information that would lead to the arrest of big time drug dealers in the city. Report from Jonathan Magistrado, ABS-CBN News
