There’s a belief that snapping a wishbone apart will make your wishes happen. Listening to Lyka Estrella relive her Tawag Ng Tanghalan journey reminded us that, indeed, dreams can happen even after things have broken apart.

Those who’ve followed her since TNT on It’s Showtime know about the heartbreak that pushed her to audition for the singing competition. “’Yung past ko na sobrang dilim ang nagtulak sa akin na bumangon. I had a past relationship na hindi maganda. Tinanong ko si God, sabi ko, ‘Lord, give me a sign.’ Then, nakita ko ‘tong Tawag Ng Tanghalan. So, nag-audition ako,” she told Kapamilya Chat.

In hindsight, the TNT Season 6 Grand Winner looks at that heartbreak as a motivation rather than a setback, “Hindi naman siya bad kasi nagdulot siya ng maganda sa akin ngayon and the future pa.”

The power belter is now dubbed by netizens as “Princess of Teleserye Theme Song” as she records the theme song of the upcoming series “Nag-Aapoy Na Damdamin” starring Jane Oineza, JC De Vera, Tony Labrusca, and Ria Atayde.

Lyka was admittedly surprised when told about her first major assignment as a Kapamilya singer, thinking that she was only short-listed until she recorded the song titled “Hawak Mo.” She worked with Jonathan Manalo, who was very helpful during the recording session and would listen to her suggestion to take the latter notes higher. In terms of ‘hugot,’ she took inspiration from her past heartbreak and how that dark moment led her to her life’s brightest season. Even the lyrics resonated with her as if the song was plucked from her life story.

“Forever grateful,” she smiled when asked how she feels after getting praised for her live performance during the teleserye’s media conference.

The new star describes her feeling as “parang nananaginip nang gising,” floating in joy and gratitude with all the good things happening in her life and her new career. She’s also over the moon meeting her idols Sarah Geronimo during her guest appearances on Kapamilya shows. Asked her dream collaboration, she thought about the ASAP Natin ‘To divas including Angeline Quinto.
