La Picara didn’t just serve food; it threw a party. Since swinging open its doors in BGC a few months before the world turned upside down during the pandemic, this place has been a love letter to Spanish tapas with a sly Asian wink. Think Gambas al Ajillo with a swagger of chili oil or Paella Negra with a whisper of lemongrass, but still flexing the good old drama of squid ink. As we noted back when it first opened, La Picara was “Spanish food with a playful Asian touch,” and that spirit made it a magnet for anyone who craved flavor with a side of mischief.

When the pandemic hit, La Picara didn’t flinch. While other spots folded, its owners showed the kind of grit that makes you root for them. They slung takeout paellas and hosted virtual sangria nights, keeping the vibe alive when dining rooms went dark. That resilience wasn’t just survival—it was a masterclass in hospitality, a reminder that a restaurant’s soul lies in its ability to connect, even through a delivery bag.

Now, with their final service set for June 18, 2025, La Picara is bowing out, but not without a nod to something new brewing. The Instagram post teases “exciting things” ahead, and you can almost hear the clink of glasses in that promise. For now, though, it’s about saying goodbye. The patatas bravas still crunch, the sangria still sings, and the room still hums with the kind of warmth that makes you linger. Go before it’s gone. Raise a glass to the team who made it through the storm and came out shining. Whatever they do next, you know it’ll be worth the wait.
