"Maalaala Mo Kaya" highlights Filipino aunts who take care of their nieces and nephews like their own children as the country's longest-running drama anthology celebrates World Aunt's Day with a moving real-life story starring Irma Adlawan and Elisse Joson this Saturday (July 23).

Marlita's (Irma) life changed drastically as she accepts the role of being a mom to her nieces Joy (Elisse) and younger sister whose father abandoned them for a new family after their mother died. She left her life in Samar and declined a marriage proposal after her boyfriend refused to accept her nieces.

As years went by, the relationship between Marlita (Irma) and her nieces started to grow stronger as Joy (Elisse) started seeing her auntie as her best friend and her “mama”. Both could not imagine losing one another and feared being abandoned.

Since then, Joy looked up to her aunt's kindness, selflessness, and tenacity. And so, when her father's ex-partner showed up at their house and asked her to look after 3-year-old her half-sibling, Sofia, she gladly accepted the responsibility and took the child in. Find out how Joy was able to juggle her studies and take care of her half-sibling with the help of Marlita.
