“Over the years, we’ve seen the market grow. Younger consumers are now more conscious about purchasing locally-made products that create positive impact–socially, environmentally, and culturally,” is an observation made by Cedie Vargas, Marimel Francisco, Maritess Pineda, Mita Rufino and Susie Quiros, Founders of the ArteFino movement.

Since the first ArteFino in 2017, it has been known to be country’s most anticipated artisanal fair. Not to be dismissed as a mere bazaar for Filipino products, the fair continues to grow as an ever-evolving, inspiring cultural movement where Filipino creativity, heritage and craft are celebrated and nurtured. Through the years, it has launched cause-driven homegrown brands that support social enterprises and sustainability.

This year, from August 24 to 27, ArteFino Festival 2023 will return to its home at The Fifth at Rockwell and the North Court, both located at the Powerplant Mall. Beyond the four walls of its festival grounds, the movement will also bring compelling stories of Philippine craft, living local, and innovating sustainable fashion to other parts of the Powerplant Mall. The founders explain, “We call it a festival because it is a celebration, and there is always something for everyone at ArteFino.”

Reuse, Repurpose, Regenerate

Guided by the theme of Reuse, Repurpose, Regenerate, expect a showcase of 130 Filipino brands that will showcase various interpretations of sustainable fashion.

While the Barracks, staged and curated by decorator, Ram Lopez-Vito Bucoy will showcase 12 up-and-coming brands, another highlight this year is the homage to Patis Tesoro, conceptualized and designed by acclaimed scenographer and costume designer Gino Gonzalez who created the dedicated walkthrough space as a celebration of the Grand Dame of Piña Fabric and Philippine Fashion’s contributions to the field, as a proponent of local materials and craftsmanship.

Home and Lifestyle Goods At The North Court

Those who are in the market for finds for the home can troop over to the Powerplant Mall’s North Court, where home and lifestyle items will be featured.

“Home is such an important sector we feel should be highlighted at the festival.” The section also puts the spotlight on ideals of Filipino craft and heritage, but in the context of modern living spaces,” share the ArteFino founders.Brands to watch out for include Abel.ph, Amparo’s Apothecary, BalaiKamay, C&C, Caro Wilson, HoliCOW, Katha, LARA Samar, Larone Artisans, Likha-Mundo, Pinky Lizares, Pulido, Sustainably Made, The Fine Life Market, Touch of Craft, TravelFund by SiriusDan, and Uswag Artesano X Abre Linea.
