The song “blue” became such a viral, chart-topping hit that it spurred over 14 million user-generated content on Instagram and TikTok. It has topped music charts, with the artist’s monthly listeners on Spotify skyrocketing to over 20 million. The charming voice behind the nostalgic love anthem turned out to be that of young Chinese-Canadian indie musician yung kai whose humble beginnings as an artist all started from his home studio (aka his bedroom).

In an exclusive interview with Metro.Style, yung kai said his musical inclination started with him playing instruments like the drums, piano, and guitar. It wasn’t until about three years ago that he tried singing.
