Tragic news woke up Los Angeles as three different areas in the city experienced wildfires this week, resulting in thousands of evacuees and at least five people dead. Many structures, landmarks, and homes were destroyed in what is said to be the "most destructive" wildfire in Los Angeles history. According to a report by the Associated Press, statistics from the Wildfire Alliance indicated that the Palisades Fire is now far more destructive than the Sayre Fire in November 2008 which destroyed more than 600 structures. Firefighters are still battling the wildfires as of this writing.

The wildfire spread across the Palisades to the west, Eaton to the northeast, and Hurst to the north. This catastrophic situation affected many, including some of the beloved Hollywood celebrities who lost their homes. Some of them have turned to social media to update their fans and followers on their situations, while some asked for prayers and thanked the firefighters who, as Chris Pratt puts it, "are working tirelessly to protect lives, homes, and wildlife as they battle fast-moving wildfire fueled by fierce winds."

Star Wars star Mark Hamill evacuated their home in Malibu together with his wife, Marilou, and their dog, Trixie. He shared on Instagram that the incident was the “most horrific fire since ‘93.”

Halloween and Freaky Friday actress Jamie Lee Curtis also shared her thoughts about the wildfire and encouraged people to only post facts to avoid "conflicting reports." “My community and possibly my home is on fire. My family is safe. Many of my friends will lose their homes... We ALL take everything for granted because we are all living our lives but when it hits your community, it's particularly shocking,” she wrote on her Instagram post.

In relation to this, the Palisades Charter High School, where the Freaky Friday high school scene was filmed, was also engulfed in flames.

James Woods, the Casino actor, is grateful to the people who have reached out to them to ask about their safety. He shared on X that he and his family were able to evacuate from their burning home in Palisades.

Singer and This Is Us actress Mandy Mooris heartbroken over their home burnt by the tragic wildfire. She, her husband (Taylor Goldsmith), their kids (Gus, Ozzie, and Lou), plus their cats and dogs safely made it out of their house but their home sadly burnt down. “I am devastated and gutted for those of us who’ve lost so much,” she shared.

Paris Hilton is “heartbroken beyond words” as she watches her home on live TV burning to the ground. The socialite and celebrity wrote in her Instagram post, “Sitting with my family, watching the news, and seeing our home in Malibu burn to the ground on live TV is something no one should ever have to experience.”

Shortly after gracing the Golden Globes red carpet event, Leighton Meester and her husband, Adam Brody, also lost their home to the LA wildfire.

Ben Affleck, who just bought his mansion in Pacific Palisades in July 2024, was also forced to leave his home due to the ferocious wildfire in the area.

The Hills stars and real-life couple Spencer Pratt and Heidi Montag were among the celebrities who evacuated their home. Through their security cameras, they watched their home as it burnt down. “The one positive sign i saw as our house burned down was ours sons bed burned in the shape of a heart. A sign of how much love was in this house so thankful for all the years and memories there with our family,” Spencer shared on Instagram.

“I have no words. Only prayers and holding as much hope as I can for our home and our kids while we watch everything burn. Thank you to every first responder fighting so hard for all of us. Thank you to every friend who reached out and new person I have hugged in tears in the last 24 hours. 💔🙏🏻”, actress, singer, and author Jennifer Love Hewitt shared on her Instagram post.

Songwriter Diane Warren has shared on Instagram the last photo she took of her beach house before she lost it to the LA wildfire. “I’ve had this house for almost 30 years. It looks like it was lost in the fire last [night]. There’s a rainbow shining on it which I’m taking as a sign of hope for all creatures who have been affected by this tragedy. The animals and the rescue ranch are OK tho which is the most important thing. Stay safe everyone,” she wrote.

Cameron Mathison, The General Hospital star, also shared his devastation about their home that was lost to the tragedy. He shared on his Instagram Post, “We are safe. But this is what’s left of our beautiful home. Our home where our kids were raised and where they wanted to raise their families someday.”

Guardians of the Galaxy actor Chris Pratt encouraged everyone to gather for prayers and support during this tough time. He wrote in his Instagram post, “Please send prayers and strength tonight to everyone in Los Angeles affected by these devastating fires.” He continued, “Let’s all come together to support one another during this tough time. ❤️”

It’s truly a devastating disaster for everyone including the event organizers and producers. Movie premieres of MGM Studios’ Unstoppable, Universal Studios' Wolf Man, Paramount’s Better Man, Max’s The Pitt, and The Last Showgirl are a few canceled premieres due to the wildfire's rapid spread.

There’s also a long list of events that are affected by the tragedy. Some of these are the annual BAFTA Tea Party, Netflix’s evening event to celebrate the music of Emilia Perez, and a morning activation event from Meta Quest were all canceled. The annual starry AFI Awards, AARP’s Movies for Grownup Awards, and the special sing-along screening for Wicked may be rescheduled. The 30th Critics' Choice Awards, which was supposed to take place on January 12, was also postponed.
