As the new year unfolds, a new show is unveiled, highly anticipated for how it promises to elevate the action genre. The newly released Incognito is a fresh action-drama series highlighting intense scenes, gripping narratives, and a powerhouse ensemble cast. 

Among the stars shining brilliantly in this project is Kaila Estrada, who steps into a role unlike anything she has ever done before. In her Metro.Style interview, Kaila shared insights about her journey into the world of action, her experience on set, and what makes Incognito a must-watch.

“I was so excited kasi pangarap ko talaga mag-action [I was so excited because it's really my dream to do action],” she said, recalling how thrilled she was upon being cast. Despite the initial nerves of entering uncharted territory, she embraced the challenge head-on. Months of rigorous training before filming equipped her with the physical prowess needed for the role.

The hard work has paid off, with Kaila confidently stating, “It’s been such a growing experience.”

In Incognito, she portrays Max Alvero, a character who embodies both strength and skill. Unlike her previous roles which were more emotionally draining, this one demanded more physical intensity. 

“She’s very skilled and physically strong, an empowered woman,” Kaila described, noting how much she admires the character’s determination. Despite the similarities in personality with some of her past roles, this character stands out for her action-packed scenes and depth.

One of the standout elements of Incognito is its well-developed ensemble. Each character has a rich backstory, and their interplay forms the crux of the narrative. 

“When you see all of us come together as a team, it’s so cohesive,” Kaila said. 

This onscreen chemistry mirrors their off-screen relationship, forged through shared experiences, including an unforgettable shoot in Matera, Italy.

Shooting in Matera, a city known for its ancient architecture, added a world-class quality to the series. For Kaila, the experience was both surreal and exhilarating. It was her first time traveling outside of Asia, and she fondly recounted moments spent exploring the city with her co-stars, indulging in gelato at every corner.

“It was just such a great experience overall,” she recalled, emphasizing the strong bonds they formed during the trip.

Despite her excitement, Kaila admitted feeling apprehensive about stepping into her first action role. 

“There’s always that fear na baka hindi ka mag-excel [There's always that fear that you might not excel],” she confessed. However, she viewed that fear as a positive sign—proof that she was venturing out of her comfort zone.

“That type of fear means you’re growing,” she added, grateful for the lessons she has learned in the process.

Beyond the thrilling action sequences, Incognito carries a powerful message of equality. Kaila highlighted how the series showcases strong women characters who are just as skillful and vital as their male counterparts. 

“I feel like that’s such an important message,” she declared. With Incognito now the no. 1 show on Netflix Philippines since it premiered on the platform last January 17, Kaila is brimming with excitement. “Nakaka-proud,” she said.
