Are you ready for Anne Curtis version 2.0?

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong is a world-famous attraction boasting multi-talented wax displays of individuals who make global waves in their craft. It recently added another Filipino icon and unveiled the wax figure of multimedia superstar, celebrity sweetheart, and It’s Showtime host Anne Curtis. Her wax figure will be available for viewing at Madame Tussauds Hong Kong at The Peak starting December 9, 2024.

The Filipina A-lister made history as the first-ever Filipino actress and host to be displayed at the Hong Kong Glamour Zone alongside Hollywood greats Brad Pitt, Nicole Kidman, Lady Gaga, Chris Hemsworth, and more.

“To be immortalized like this is truly such an honor. It's a dream come true for me and I hope through having this wax figure, I'm able to let others know—all Filipinos know—to continue to pursue their biggest dreams because if you do dream big, they can happen with hard work and perseverance,” Anne remarks at the unveiling event.

Anne Curtis, who rose to stardom from her teen years in the industry and well into adulthood, is renowned for her 27 years of versatile work in film and TV productions including Dyosa, Maging Sino Ka Man, Dyesebel, BuyBust, No Other Woman, and Sid and Aya: A Love Story. She is also well-known for being one of the beloved hosts of It’s Showtime, ABS-CBN’s longest-running noontime variety show. Apart from being a fashion icon trusted by designers and luxury brands, she uses her influence to advocate for children with UNICEF Philippines.

Metro.Style sat down with the woman of the hour to talk about this latest career milestone. She recalled the first time she visited Madame Tussauds and thought the experience was fun. So, having a core memory of her being a part of it now feels surreal.

“It was a lot of fun. It's kind of cool that you get to see your favorite celebrities or idols ‘in person,’ if you can say that, because they do look so real. And I got to witness that myself today in this very surreal moment of seeing myself immortalized as a wax figure. Sabi ko nga, para akong may kambal. It looks like I have a twin,” she smiles.

Call it happenstance, but she was actually in Hong Kong with the other hosts of It’s Showtime for a quick break when she got a message from Madame Tussauds Hong Kong for this project.

“I was in disbelief... I was actually in Hong Kong. I was there with the Showtime family when I got the call, and I was like, ‘Wow, what a coincidence naman.’ I'm like, ‘Me?!’ Wow, what an honor to be the first Filipina actress and TV host [to be there],” Anne tells us.

Taking us through the experience, Anne shared she didn’t make specific demands or requirements on how she would be depicted.

“I let the Madame Tussauds Hong Kong team do what they do best, and I just trusted them completely,” she begins. But she did, however, participate in the decision-making on the overall look and feel of the wax figure.

“We wanted something that was really going to be timeless and elegant. Come 20 years from now, I look at this wax figure, and I'm very pleased and happy to see that the outfit will never be dated and the hair and makeup will never look old or trendy because it's something that is timeless, I would like to say. That's what we wanted to create, a very timeless, elegant, and chic look,” Anne adds.

With many of Anne’s fashionable moments and iconic looks through the years to choose from, the decision to go with the gown did not come easy. The wax figure was dressed in an elegant cream-colored Dior gown donated by the actress, making her twin statue radiate the same sophistication she possesses.

“It took a lot because I obviously wanted to opt for black, but then we were like, ‘Why not something different that's a little bit more modern?’ And then I remembered how when I wore this outfit, everyone appreciated it. So I was like, you know what, I think we found the look,” she shares.

All of Anne’s star qualities were beautifully captured in her wax likeness, posed as if she were ready to host and conquer the stage as she also held a microphone.

“In my 27 years in the industry, I felt that a microphone has been such a powerful tool whether it be hosting, giving a speech as a UNICEF ambassador, doing my spiels as a TV host on It’s Showtime or even doing concerts at the Araneta Coliseum. It has been such a powerful tool for me so I felt like this really should be a part of my wax figure,” the star thoughtfully shares.

Madame Tussauds Hong Kong’s Head of Sales and Marketing BoBo Yu was in the Philippines to mark the launch event.

“It was so great to work with Anne throughout the entire process of creating this. With her wax figure, we hope to bring a piece of home to our Filipino visitors. We’re also looking forward to the interactions her fans will have with the wax figure as we foster a platform where Filipinos shine,” Yu remarks.

Anne Curtis joins other Filipino icons like Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach, Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray, and People’s Champ Manny Pacquiao, who also have their wax figures displayed at Madame Tussauds.
