For its latest collection, Max Mara dives headfirst into the mind-bending world of mathematics—yes, really—and somehow makes it feel effortlessly elegant. Out comes a lineup that’s as sharp as it is soulful, and honestly, kind of genius.

The inspiration: Hypatia, a 4th-century philosopher, mathematician, and astronomer from Alexandria—a total trailblazer in her time. Max Mara’s long had a thing for spotlighting powerful women from history, and Hypatia’s mix of intellect and intrigue sets the perfect tone for a collection that’s all about structure, shape, and just a little mystery.

You’ll see it in the details. Tailored pieces are stitched with visible darts—those little sewing lines that usually stay hidden—turned into graphic, almost Pythagorean statements. Trench coats and suits take on a “mathlete meets museum goddess” vibe, while asymmetric folds fan out from the shoulder or hip like wearable origami. Think modern-day drapery with a geometric twist.

There’s a playful take on geometry too—think cutouts that show just a peek of shoulder or back, giving off a subtle, smart kind of sexy. The shapes are bold and confident, especially with sharp, square-shouldered jackets that feel modern and strong.

But just when you think it’s all about clean lines and precision, Max Mara throws in a little chaos. Crumpled silks with random creases remind us that imperfection can be just as beautiful. Even the crisp cotton shirt—summer’s forever staple—gets reimagined with clever construction that elevates it into something special.

As for the palette, it’s pure lab chic: pristine white, deep copper, inky blue, and shimmery silver. Inspired by chemical compounds but somehow totally wearable.

While it’s rooted in logic and geometry, the collection has this quietly magical energy—proof that when fashion and science collide, something truly spellbinding can happen.

Max Mara just presented this very Spring/Summer 2025 collection, "Science and Magic," at their Greenbelt 3 store with a fashion show attended by the Philippines' fashion crowd. To align with  Women's Month, Max Mara Philippines is proud to partner with U-GO, a foundation dedicated to funding higher education scholarships for talented young women in low-income countries. The collaboration will run until April 30, 2025.
