The 2025 MET Gala is set ever first Monday of May. This year, fashion’s biggest night out falls on May 5, 2025, and is poised to be an unforgettable evening with its theme “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” A powerful homage to the profound influence of Black dandyism on fashion, this year’s event will spotlight styles from the 18th century to today.

The dress code has just been announced: “Tailored For You,” which is a nod to suiting, and perhaps menswear in which the guests can truly have fun with. The Met Gala after all is a place to make a statement.

While most details of the gala is under wraps, what is known so far is that the deep inspiration is Monica L. Miller’s book Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity. The museum exhibition will house 12 sections that groups the pieces as per some essential elements of the dandy style: Ownership, Presence, Distinction, Disguise, Freedom, Champion, Respectability, Jook, Heritage, Beauty, Cool, and Cosmopolitanism.

The Met Gala co-chairs for this year includes Colman Domingo, Lewis Hamilton, A$AP Rocky, Pharrell Williams (each having their own way of expressing Dandyism), and Anna Wintour.
