The 40th Film Independent Spirit Awards took place in California, celebrating the best in independent film and television. Hosted by comedian and actress Aidy Bryant, the ceremony recognized outstanding achievements in projects with film budgets under $28 million, while television series had no budget cap. The biggest winner of the night was Anora, a film about a Brooklyn sex worker’s affair with a Russian oligarch’s son, which took home Best Feature, Best Director for Sean Baker, and Best Lead Performance for Mikey Madison. 

Beyond the awards, the red carpet was a dazzling showcase of style, with many of the Best Lead Performance nominees setting the bar high for independent film fashion. Winner Mikey Madison stunned in a sleek black Calvin Klein Collection look exuding effortless elegance. Demi Moore took a minute from her over floor-grazing looks for a Thom Browne look that was a welcome change for her. The men also looked extra sharp like Coleman Domingo in a silver Dolce&Gabbana look and Andrew Scott in a playful casual look.

With stunning fashion moments and groundbreaking wins, the 2025 Spirit Awards proved to be a night of celebration, championing fresh talent, diverse storytelling, and the power of independent cinema.
