For each city in the “Big 4”, fashion takes on a distinct identity. There’s the elegant chic of Paris, the opulent craftsmanship of Milan, and the youthful rebellion of London–but in New York, fashion is never just one thing.

This NYFW, there were the minimalists (Calvin Klein) and there were the maximalists (Anna Sui); the grown-ups (Carolina Herrera, Tory Burch) and the young-at-heart (Coach, Sandy Liang); the conventionalists (Michael Kors) and the unconventional (Marc Jacobs); the business formal (Thom Browne) and the city casual (Eckhaus Latta).

Reflected in its street style and the personalities that come and go, let’s take a NYFW recap through the top shows this season and the Asian stars who graced them.

Arguably the most talked-about show of NYFW this season, Calvin Klein made its return to the fashion week calendar with the debut of its first-ever female creative director, Veronica Leoni. Kendall Jenner walked the minimalist runway, graced by pieces that evoked the simple sensuality that has been classic to Calvin Klein’s history. On the front rows: Asian stars Greta Lee, Rowoon (Kim Seok-Woo), and Tu Tontawan sat alongside the likes of Bad Bunny and supermodels Kate Moss and Christy Turlington.

Coach

If there was one collection that captured the urban spirit of NYC, it was Coach. Youthful yet seemingly worn-out, creative director Stuart Vevers put a certain twist to casual dressing as bags are scribbled on, leather jackets are cropped to the waist, and animal slippers become the next footwear trend. Like a love letter to the joy of youth, Coach’s guest list was graced by Asia’s new-gen talents such as ITZY’s Yuna, Nanon Korapat, and Lee Se-young.

Michael Kors

At Michael Kors, dégagé chic is standard. Where less is more, the designer believes that true elegance is all in the art of being at ease. In monochromatic looks, comfortable layers, and tasteful silhouettes, the Michael Kors woman isn’t afraid of a little slouch, making laid-back looks a sophisticated choice. Filipino-American celebs Kelsey Merritt and Nicole Scherzinger attended the F/W ‘25 presentation.

Tory Burch

Tory Burch was another standout at NYFW. Described by the designer herself as a collection full of twists, the show was a reimagination of classic American sportswear. From shiny mesh jerseys, knit sweatpants, and cardigans with armholes cut out, Tory Burch’s vision is sophisticatedly subtle yet fascinating under further inspection. Filipino celebs Kelsey Merritt, Max Collins, R’Bonney Gabriel, and Janina Manipol were spotted alongside other Asian celebrities such as rom-com stars Lola Tung and Lana Condor.

Thom Browne

Closing off NYFW, Thom Browne made quite the noise with the help of over 2,000 origami birds inhabiting his runway. The American designer put an ornithological spin on his brand’s DNA of structured tailoring–but, as always, Thom is strictly not always business. Aside from the more obvious bird motifs, you’ll find the unexpected twists of voluminous suits, tulle, exposed shoulder pads, and pattern after pattern. Asian-American stars Evan Mock and Lola Tung joined Cara Delevigne, Adrien Brody, and Kerry Washington in the front row.
