Disney’s upcoming Snow White live-action remake, set for release in March 2025 just dropped its new trailer. One major highlight of the trailer is the reimagined version of the iconic gown worn by Rachel Zegler in the title role. Designed by the acclaimed Sandy Powell, the costume preserves the original’s signature blue, red, and yellow color palette while incorporating modern details that give it a sophisticated edge. Unlike the 1937 animated version’s simpler design, the updated costume features textured fabrics, longer flowing sleeves, and a bodice adorned with intricate embroidery and lacing. These additions bring depth and realism to the classic look, ensuring it resonates with contemporary audiences.

Powell, known for her work on Cinderella  and The Favourite, sought to balance nostalgia with innovation. Her design retains the iconic elements that make Snow White recognizable while offering a fresh take suited for live-action storytelling. For instance, the yellow skirt has been enriched with layers and textures to create movement, enhancing its visual impact on screen. And instead of a short puffed sleeve as in the animated version, Rachel is wearing a longer sleeve with an added touch of a corset-like red details on the bodice.
