Music and presents aren’t the only things getting wrapped this December—because here at Metro, we’re wrapping up 2024 with a definitive roundup of the Philippines’ most memorable fashion moments. After a year of Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards, BINI, fashion week, and the rise of Filipino icons on the international scene, we’ve seen a list of stylish highlights that have taken the internet—and, even, history.

2024 was a year beyond borders for our favorite Filipino stars. At Paris Fashion Week, Pia Wurtzbach and Heart Evangelista earned the top spots as the most prominent influencers, proving their global style icon statuses. Following suit, Janine Gutierrez and Liza Soberano stunned on international red carpets, proudly bannering Philippine pride. Internet sensations Kathryn and Alden and BINI brought their A-game to the style scene as they donned look after look during their tours. Adding to another success of the year, 2024 also saw some Philippine designs take prestigious stages such as the Olympics and Miss Universe.

Now, before we start crafting our New Year’s resolutions for 2025, let’s take a look back into the Philippines’ iconic fashion moments of 2024.

With its signature pearls and Philippine craftsmanship, Jewelmer crafted the latest addition to the history of the Miss Universe crowns. Named the “Lumière de l’Infini” (“Light of Infinity”), the piece was used to crown this year’s Miss Universe winner Victoria Theilvig.

Chelsea Manalo had some remarkable fashion moments at this year’s Miss Universe competition but none were quite as unforgettable as her National Costume. Like a work of art, the beauty queen stunned the world in a Manny Halasan look entitled “Hiraya”, an ode to our heritage and faith. Chelsea was awarded Best in National Costume for this number.

Francis Libiran designs the Philippine National Costume for the Olympics 2024No other garment represents the country quite as well as the barong—such is the case for the Philippines’ official national costume for the Olympics 2024. Designed by Francis Libiran, Filipino athletes sported the “Sinag”, adding a twist to the barong with elements crafted after the Philippine flag. Heart Evangelista renews her wedding vows in custom Elie SaabHeart Evangelista is no stranger to the world’s best fashion designers. Last February, the style icon and her husband, Chiz Escudero, renewed their wedding vows in Balesin. Her gown of choice? Custom Elie Saab. Truly a “dream” piece, as Heart calls it.Pia Wurtzbach becomes Bulgari’s first Filipino ambassadorYou’ll often find a Bulgari jewelry (or two) on Pia Wurtzbach. Last June, the Miss Universe title-holder was welcomed as an official “Friend of the House”, making her the first-ever Filipino ambassador to represent Bulgari.

Anne Curtis attends her first Louis Vuitton show in Paris

Getting an invite to a Louis Vuitton show is a privilege only few get to experience—and this year, Anne Curtis finally got hers. With slicked back hair, a structured blue coat, and a Capucines in hand, the actress attended her first show for the luxury house, making her a new Paris Fashion Week regular to watch.

Janine Gutierrez ticked off a bucket list goal this 2024 when she attended the Venice Film Festival for the world premiere of Lav Diaz’s “Phantosmia”. The lead actress had a dream-come-true moment as she stepped onto the Biennale red carpet in a Vania Romoff dress with vintage JMA Jewelry.

BINI made history as the first P-pop act to perform at KCON LA. In matching shades of pink and denim, the girl group took the stage to perform “Cherry On Top” in custom Marian Zara looks embellished with floral motifs and an added touch of bling.

Kathryn and Alden is, no doubt, the Philippines’ couple of the year. After a successful press tour, the two made noise when they attended the world premiere of "Hello, Love, Again" in complementing all-white ensembles.

Liza Soberano makes her Hollywood debut at the “Lisa Frankenstein” red carpet

This year, Liza Soberano made it to Hollywood. Playing the role of Taffy on the comedy horror film “Lisa Frankenstein”, the actress stepped onto the red carpet for the premiere. Styled by Maeve Reilly, Liza wore an Oliver Theyskens look that captured the movie’s gothic edge.
