Did we witness a new masterpiece at music's biggest night? With Mother Monster in attendance, we sure did. Lady Gaga surprised everyone when she dropped her latest single, “Abracadabra” at this year's Grammy Awards. 

Derived from a magical spell,  the song cast a spell on the fans and sparked an internet frenzy with its dark, edgy pop magnificence. The track featured a noir-toned atmosphere, complemented by pale shades of makeup and a pop of bold red lipstick–reminiscent of Lady Gaga's 2010 gothic allure. 

Back in the day, she dominated the mainstream. Her edgy pop-star vibe became a cultural reset for the music industry, particularly through her darkwave glam approach, which enriched the rhythm and momentum of her music videos.  We can’t deny it any longer—we miss this beauty era of hers!

We knew her song would be a hit the moment she traded a vibrant makeup palette for a monochromatic tone. Not only is this her signature look, but it’s also how she first introduced herself to us. Playing “Abracadabra” created a nostalgic feeling that takes us back to our younger years–like watching "Bad Romance" for the first time all over again.

Lady Gaga showcased only two beauty looks in the music video, yet she slayed both. She delivered a bop of a song that could make us dance any time of the day—not to mention the curated beauty galore that had us replaying the MV multiple times.

Lady in Red

It's only the beginning of the MV and she already gave us the most bewitching look. Lady Gaga was covered in an apple-red ensemble with her skin coated in light foundation, illuminating the spaces with her phantom energy. Her makeup was absolute perfection, the placement of the beauty mole below her right eye brought back the classic Mother Monster from her “The Fame Monster” and "Born this Way" era.

The palette selection on her lids was a mix of nude shades and shimmers. Her eyebrows were concealed to create a bleached effect. And for a flawless finish, she painted her lips with wine-red lipstick and topped it with frosty gloss to create a slightly dramatic effect. 

Edgy Pop Allure

Releasing all the pop energy on the floor, Gaga had her hair in a pretty French braid. She rocked a white outfit statement—with her hair and her ensemble in a light monochromatic tone. Similarly, her eyebrows were covered and concealed to highlight the bone structure around her eyes, making them glamorously freaky. The lids around her eyes were smeared with a dark palette in between and brushed upwards with a lighter nude shade to lessen the flat base of her foundation. She finished the look with dark mauve and added sheer gloss for a modern touch.

Lady Gaga’s artistry and style were known for being unique, especially the flickers of eerie makeup and notable bizarre hairstyles. This made her one pop star engraved in the history of pop music.
